PEOPLE... TWO FRIENDS FROM ESTONIA...

Dear all,
I'm just an amateur photographer who takes simple pictures and this posting represents visual representation of some of my most treasured memories...
I met Andri Laidre (wearing glasses) and Anders Suvari at 1.30 p.m. on 23/06/06.
After photographing them at KLCC Park, we had lunch where they were introduced to iced tea (teh ais) and tandoori chicken. We went to Putrajaya, dropped by my apartment to pic up my 18-70 lens and back to KLCC where I took photos of them with the Petronas Twin Towers as the background (after I found out that the Towers is the main reason they came to Malaysia). We then had a delicious satay dinner in Bangsar and I finally said farewell to them at Puduraya where they took the 1.00 a.m. bus to Penang.
About a week later, I sent Andri an sms and found out that they went to Perhentian Island followed by Cameron Highlands. We met again at 5.00 p.m. on 30/06/06 and had dinner at my favorite restaurant, watched the Germany vs Argentina match, brunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken (they have never eaten at KFC before) and went to Malacca. We finally said our farewell on 01/07/06 at Sentral Station (after they had a taste of durian) where they took the 10.00 p.m. train to Singapore.
They have been friends for 8 years and I really enjoyed their company. The meals we had tasted sooo goood!
I have met, spoken, photographed and said goodbye to people from 35 countries in the last 6 months but I've never been as sad as I was when I said goodbye to Andri and Anders...
Will we meet again? Only time will tell... I really hope so...

Thank you so much again for visiting/commenting in the spirit of idea sharing where there is no right or wrong answer...
Have a great week and a greater week ahead.. Keep on shooting!!

Best regards,
Azli Jamil

I really love this entry my friend. As I told you I really admire the way you make new friends from all around the world! As you tell us: Keep on shooting, because you are a professional photographer!

This Canon user wishes the best for you in this new week!

P.S. I think the black and white pictures look so better, I prefer them over the color shots for this work, but it is only my opinion. Greetings from Puebla, México

The silhoette of the two ppl looking at the bridge is awesome...
The pattern for this posting is a littl tricky to see but i see it...
Each set of color photos is for one person now that was easy...
Middle column, both of them where only in the middle picture bith are facing the camera...
Right hand diagonal have the same theme... Potraits and full body shots...I think the picture of them jumping should be mirrored by the full body shot of them shopping beside themeating durian
Left hand diagonal same layout
Only 2 color photos???

As for the pictures, they are quite sharp. I like the full body shots. numbr 8 is a little overexposed :Pnumber 6 1st photo with the arch of water is unique

these people love the king of fruits??? why not post the durian in color? all in all, its another great series by Mr. Azli Jamil!!! Keep it up!!!

Dear Bro Azli…..

How am I going to start….not pretty sure .
Well done Potrait and Candid caption .
I guess you are shooting in Colours but then some of its you convert to Black and White.
It is difficult to decide which one is better.

On the first place….if I am one of them…I rather choose Colours as my Travel Caption.
If you are selling those to them….I would say : They will buy most of images in Colours and perhaps some “Head to Shoulder” Potrait in Black and White.

The silhouette image at Putrajaya…perhaps will be better in Colour as the Sun setting down. The fence infront of them is okay to me but that big pole of the fence ( in the middle ) looks ugly. What do you think ?.

You are...…People's Hunter

In my own opinion, one very thing I like about your entries is that the colours are hot and striking. I love looking at photos with a high contrast and dark, hot colours.. Your pictures do turn me on and makes me wanna come back to see a new entry.
For this entry, I like the second pic.. Love the silhoutte of your two friends overseeing the bridge. This is a cool bnw entry.. I like the fact that this a rather 'loud' bnw entry..
Anyway, even though I like your pictures to be bright, I somehow wonder how your pallid photos will turned out to be..

We can't effectively photograph something that we don't care about and if we care about something that means, we think about it and I think is why you have that type of photos here...you touch people life thru your photography ability. Thanks for stopping by Azli. It is recuperating to know that someone has set a foot on my fotopages.

I've read your comment and yes I am agree with you that you are a humane photographer. Like Olivier Follmi, he is great. I am actually a silent viewer of your fotopages and and I found that it is interesting to see you capture another side of viewing human behaviour. All in photography.

I love the compositions, the backdrop and the black and white mode you use in several pictures which you think it needs to. New point and shoot devotees oftenly misused this astonishing BW thingies which sometimes turn their shots ugly and somber with no literal meaning in it.

Anyway, keep up with good photos.

Signing out,
Mohamad Saifol Bin Aaisa

I enjoyed looking through your photos and can clearly see that you have talent with people. I really enjoyed the facial expressions that you captured.
Working with people I would try to use a lens that makes you get closer to the subject. Of course this does create a challenge to keep them from posing, but overall it creates a much better image when captured correctly.
Overall I would recommend that you stick with photojournalism, specializing in people and continue to work on capturing the mood of the subject and situation. A photo of a face only can tell the entire story if taken correctly. (see www.oneworldphoto.org/portfolio/11.html )
Overall good work and wish you the best in your future. Next time you are up in Thailand be sure to send me a message and we can try to find the time to get together.
